Partnering with the Georgia Aquarium on Freshwater Conservation

Staff from the GWPPC traveled to Atlanta to participate in a Freshwater Conservation Workshop organized by the Georgia Aquarium’s Research & Conservation team. The goal of the workshop was to develop a framework, identify partners, and establish priorities for a scalable freshwater conservation program initially working in the Flint River but eventually expanding throughout the ACF Basin and possibly Georgia as a whole. Workshop participants included Georgia Aquarium staff, researchers, GA DNR/EPD Staff, policy analysts, educators, and non-profits. Topics of discussion included research needs, outreach/education efforts, and policy advisement.
